Resident and Faculty Representing at AAP Conference

Current resident Dr. Rosalynn Conic, faculty members Drs. Paula Ackerman, Andrew Dubin and Cole McCarty and the Program Coordinator DeVonte Dennison attended the Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP) national meeting Physiatry ’25 held in Phoenix, AZ February 25-March 1, 2025. Together, they represented the University of Florida at the Job and Residency Fair.

Dr. McCarty attended the Program Director/Assistant Program Director workshop. DeVonte attended the Program Coordinator workshop.

Dr. Kailash Pendem was first author on a poster  “Middle Trunk Brachial Plexus Lesion Due To Diabetic Amyotrophy” with co-authors Drs. Dubin, Zaremski and mentor Dr. Vincent.

Drs. Ackerman and Conic co-presented their session titled “Targeted Relief: Precision Medicine Strategies in Physiatry”, which discussed the benefits of precision medicine with a focus on cytochrome P450 metabolism and CYP2D6 pathway.

Dr. Ackerman co-presented “Neurotoxicities in Cancer Patients: Comprehensive Overview and Rehabilitation Strategies” which discussed neurotoxicities associated with cancer and cancer treatment.

Dr. Conic presented her work on “Trends in Medicare Reimbursement for Inpatient Rehabilitation 2020-2025” in the Administrative/Education/Leadership Scientific Paper Session. 

Dr. Conic also had 2 posters accepted:  

  • “Are there sex and racial differences in academic productivity within physiatry?” with co-authors Alena Kosolapova, and co-resident Kailash Pendem
  • and “Trends in ultrasound use during physical medicine and rehabilitation residency training”.

Finally, Dr. Conic started her 2-year term on AAP’s Public Policy Committee.

We are looking forward to another strong showing at Physiatry ’26!
