The research projects of three UF PMR faculty were selected as the best of all research submissions to the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPMR) annual meeting 2021 in three categories to produce a strong showing at this venue:
General Rehabilitation

Pediatric Rehabilitation
Heather K Vincent, Bishoy Abdelmalik, Logan Lentini and Leandra U Woolnough. “Gait and Physical Function Performance Differences in Children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) and Healthy Children”

Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine:
Heather K Vincent, Alex Lam, Candace Powell, Cong Chen and Kevin R Vincent. “Psychological Outlook Changes and Impact on Quality of Life Before and After Rehabilitation in Injured Runners: Implications for Rehabilitation Programs”

These projects also involved students from the UF Medical Honors Program and from Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology. These projects are being developed into full manuscripts for publication. Dr. Heather Vincent also Chaired an AAPMR Research Community Session on October 28th titled “Opportunities to Engage in and Optimize Quality of Physiatry Research”.
