About Andrea T Aguirre
My name is Andrea Aguirre, MD and I joined the physical medicine and rehabilitation department in 2022 with a focus in spinal cord injury medicine. I received my bachelor’s degree in physiological sciences from the University of California Los Angeles and medical degree at the University of Virginia. I also completed my residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Virginia and my fellowship in spinal cord injury medicine at the University of Utah.
I am now a clinical assistant professor in the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation. My goal as a physician is to help patients with spinal cord injuries get back to the activities they enjoy. My special interest is utilizing adaptive technology and recreation to increase and maintain quality of life in my patients. I treat patients with traumatic and nontraumatic injuries to the spinal cord. I also help with spasticity management in patients with spinal cord injuries. Currently, I am a member of the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals.
In my free time, I enjoy rock climbing, paddle boarding, running and spending time with my family and dog.
