Exploring Physiological Responses to Backward Walking in Healthy Adults

Help us study how treadmill walking direction and incline affect the body.

The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Florida is conducting a study on forward vs. backward walking under different incline conditions.

Who are we looking for?

  • Healthy adults aged 18–35 years or 60–75 years
  • No major orthopedic, neurological, or cardiac conditions
  • No surgery to either lower limb
  • No major fracture to lower limb within the past 6 months

What is involved?

  • One treadmill session (~60 minutes)
  • Four walking conditions: forward & backward, flat & incline
  • Wear a heart rate–monitored mask to measure oxygen use
